Why Blogging is a good idea.

You can see your initial traffic from blogging almost overnight and this is mostly from your initial pinging.

Will it be a lot of traffic you ask? Not necessarily. If you post at the right time of day for your site, you may see as many as 100 visitors come to your blog in its first day, due to a new blog post, just from pinging.

You can see a lot more traffic than that if you tell your existing visitors about your new blog.

After you have created a number of posts, you are ready to lay the foundation for an active feed and you will also start to see a small flow of traffic from promoting your RSS feed or blog in directories and the various feed-specfic search engines. This traffic can happen in as little as three to 5 days. this initial traffic will depend on the topic and content on your blog.

The first search engine results from blogging will come in as little as a week and you could even see your page rankings in as short a time as just a few weeks. Does this mean that suddenly 1000's of people will come to your site as a result of these rankings?

Not just yet.

The first results are like a stream turning into a riiver. You will start with a trickle of traffic that will build up to a flow. generally you will see the much more stronger flow of solid traffic beginning over the first 3-6 months depending on the keywords and phrases you are using, the volume and quality of your content, the frequency of your posting and how much effort you put into your linking.

The important thing to understand about blogging for business objectives is that you aren’t necessarily going to get a lot of mainstream b2b traffic, or general consumer visitors to begin with. This takes time as with all organic search marketing. you will however become an authority figure in your field and be respected by your target audience which is what really matters.
